Job Description
Hicks Enterprise is seeking an experienced and dependable Heavy Equipment Operator / CDL Field Technician to join our field team.
This position is responsible for safely operating heavy equipment on demolition, excavation, site preparation, material handling, and general construction projects. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in active job site environments, understands safe equipment operation, and is willing to assist with general field work when needed.
We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, communicates well with the crew, and can operate equipment efficiently while maintaining a strong focus on safety.
Primary Responsibilities
Operate heavy equipment including excavators, skid steers, loaders, and other construction equipment.
· Perform demolition, excavation, grading, loading, material handling, and site-clearing work.
· Load trucks, trailers, dumpsters, and containers as required.
· Sort, move, and stage demolition debris and construction materials.
· Perform site preparation and cleanup.
· Conduct daily equipment inspections before operation.
· Identify and report equipment damage, maintenance needs, or safety concerns.
· Perform basic equipment care, cleaning, and routine maintenance as required.
· Follow project plans, jobsite instructions, and supervisor direction.
· Work safely around structures, utilities, vehicles, employees, and other equipment.
· Maintain awareness of changing jobsite conditions.
· Assist laborers and other field employees when equipment operation is not required.
· Follow all company safety policies and jobsite procedures.
· Maintain a clean and organized work area.
· Complete additional field duties as assigned.
Equipment Experience Preferred
Experience operating one or more of the following is strongly preferred:
· Excavators
· Mini excavators
· Skid steers
· Track loaders
Qualifications
· Previous heavy equipment operating experience required.
· Demolition, excavation, site work, or construction experience strongly preferred.
· Ability to safely and confidently operate equipment in active jobsite environments.
· Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
· Strong awareness of jobsite safety.
· Dependable attendance and punctuality.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a crew.
· Ability to perform physical labor when necessary.
· Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
· Valid driver’s license required.
· Reliable transportation to and from work required.
· CDL and CDL-A is required.
Physical Requirements
This position may require the ability to:
· Sit and operate equipment for extended periods.
· Frequently enter and exit heavy equipment.
· Climb steps and ladders.
· Bend, kneel, crouch, push, pull, and reach.
· Lift and carry construction materials and equipment.
· Work on uneven terrain.
· Work outdoors in hot, cold, dusty, muddy, or wet conditions.
· Wear required personal protective equipment.
