Position Summary

Our client is seeking a compassionate and qualified Registered Nurse I to support individuals receiving

Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) services.


The Registered Nurse I assists nursing teams supporting Home and Community-Based Services (HCS),

Texas Home Living (TxHmL), and General Revenue (GR) programs. The nurse conducts evaluations and

assessments, prepares medical staffing reports, administers and monitors medications, and educates

individuals, staff members, and caregivers on appropriate medical procedures and techniques.

The nurse also coordinates referrals, communicates and monitors results from other healthcare

professionals, administers tuberculosis tests, and participates in mortality reviews when required.

Additional responsibilities include providing nursing services in an outpatient clinical setting and

contributing to psychiatric and general wellness treatment plans.


Education, Training, and Experience

  • Graduation from an accredited Registered Nursing program recognized by the Texas Board of
  • Nursing.
  • At least two years of nursing experience in the intellectual and developmental disabilities field is
  • preferred.
  • Proficiency in using computers and standard office equipment.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications and electronic health record systems.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Conduct nursing evaluations and complete required health assessments.
  • Prepare accurate medical staffing reports and clinical documentation.
  • Administer and monitor medications in accordance with applicable regulations and physician
  • orders.
  • Educate individuals, caregivers, and staff members regarding medications, medical procedures, and
  • proper healthcare techniques.
  • Coordinate referrals for appropriate medical services and follow-up care.
  • Review and communicate medical information and results received from other healthcare
  • professionals.
  • Administer tuberculosis tests and maintain related documentation.
  • Participate in mortality reviews as assigned.
  • Provide nursing and medication-management services in an outpatient clinical setting.
  • Participate in developing and updating psychiatric and general wellness treatment plans.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record system.
  • Work independently, prioritize responsibilities, and manage time effectively.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
  • Collaborate effectively with individuals served, family members, medical professionals, staff members, and other members of the care team.
  • Learn and effectively use new computer systems and applications as required.


Minimum Requirements

  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas.
  • Valid Texas driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • No more than three moving violations within the previous three years.
  • Must meet and maintain eligibility under our client's automobile insurance requirements.
  • Must successfully complete all required background checks.
  • Must satisfy all other employment and regulatory requirements applicable to positions involving
  • direct contact with individuals receiving services.
