  • Establish and document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to improve efficiency and internal controls.
  • Evaluate existing accounting processes and recommend improvements to support business growth.
  • Assist with accounting system optimization, implementation, or transition efforts.
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities, financial reporting, and variance analysis.
  • Manage and review general ledger activity, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
  • Analyze financial data and provide reporting, trends, and insights to support leadership decision-making.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure financial compliance and reporting accuracy.
  • Partner with leadership to build scalable accounting processes and create operational efficiencies.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership-level responsibilities.
  • Previous Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or consulting experience preferred within a small business.
  • Proven success working within small businesses, startups, or rapidly growing organizations.
  • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, and accounting best practices.
  • Experience implementing or improving accounting systems and processes.
  • Ability to create procedures, establish controls, and build structure in environments with limited existing processes.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and take ownership of projects from start to finish.
