Senior Superintendent - Commercial Construction

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Superintendent to oversee the day-to-day field operations of a major commercial construction project in Midland, TX. This position will be based in Midland for approximately 18 months and will be responsible for managing site activities, manpower, scheduling, safety, quality, materials, and field production.

The Senior Superintendent will work closely with the Project Manager, subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and project stakeholders to ensure the project is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the required quality standards. Experience with large-scale manufacturing facilities valued at $50M+ is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate all day-to-day construction activities and field operations.

  • Supervise, direct, and coordinate subcontractors, crews, and field personnel.

  • Partner with Estimating and Project Management to ensure efficient and orderly project execution.

  • Serve as the primary on-site representative for field coordination with owners, designers, subcontractors, vendors, and inspectors.

  • Coordinate subcontractor activities and required municipal inspections.

  • Maintain primary responsibility for on-site safety and enforce company safety policies and project-specific health and safety plans.

  • Review project plans, specifications, schedules, budgets, contracts, and deliverables to ensure field activities align with project requirements.

  • Monitor labor, equipment, and production costs and identify potential issues or delays.

  • Develop and manage daily and short-term crew work schedules.

  • Review and approve crew timesheets, field reports, and expense documentation.

  • Coordinate procurement and delivery of tools, materials, and equipment to support the project schedule.

  • Monitor workmanship and quality control throughout all phases of construction.

  • Identify scheduling conflicts, field issues, and potential delays and work with the Project Manager to develop solutions.

  • Participate in project meetings and provide updates regarding progress, manpower, schedule, safety, quality, and production.

  • Assist with the operation of construction equipment when required, including excavators, graders, rough-terrain forklifts, dozers, scrapers, backhoes, tractors, and loaders.

  • Maintain a professional and productive relationship with project stakeholders and subcontractors.

Required Qualifications

  1. 7+ years of construction supervisory experience on commercial construction projects.

  2. Proven experience working on large-scale manufacturing projects valued at $50M+.

  3. Strong experience in construction scheduling, field supervision, manpower planning, material procurement, quality control, and production management.

  4. Demonstrated track record of successfully completing projects as a Senior Superintendent, Superintendent, or Foreman.

  5. Strong ability to manage multiple priorities and perform effectively under demanding project schedules.

  6. Excellent organizational, written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

  7. Strong understanding of commercial construction processes, plans, specifications, and contract documents.

  8. Proficiency with construction technology and software, including Procore, Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Box, Bluebeam, and PDF viewers.

  9. Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.

Physical & Field Requirements

  • Ability to work on active construction sites and in varying weather conditions.

  • Ability to lift and carry equipment or mechanical components weighing up to 50 lbs. unassisted.

  • Ability to climb ladders and work from man lifts.

  • Ability to operate power and electric tools, including drills and saws.

  • Ability to use common hand tools, including screwdrivers, wrenches, and hammers.

  • Ability to safely access and navigate construction areas throughout the workday.
