Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer

Job Description

The Manufacturing Engineer leads manufacturing engineering activities across assembly operations, with a focus on developing, standardizing, and improving production processes. This role ensures that tooling, fixtures, methods, and routings support production schedules, safety expectations, and quality requirements. The engineer maintains key manufacturing documentation, supports advanced product quality planning, and applies industrial engineering techniques to reduce waste, improve throughput, and lower cost. This position offers high-impact project exposure, visible ownership of processes, and hands-on work directly with production teams and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Own manufacturing engineering activities across assembly operations and serve as a primary technical resource for production teams.
  • Develop, optimize, and standardize assembly processes to support production schedules, quality targets, and safety requirements.
  • Create, update, and maintain standardized work documentation, including work instructions and process guidelines.
  • Maintain and manage PFMEAs, control plans, safety risk documentation, routings, and bills of materials to ensure accurate and current manufacturing records.
  • Support PPAP and SPAP completion, including preparation of documentation, coordination of submissions, and participation in quality-gate audits.
  • Apply industrial engineering methods such as time studies, line balancing, man-machine charts, and value-stream mapping to improve throughput and reduce waste and cost.
  • Lead root-cause investigations for process, quality, and safety issues, and drive effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Develop and refine fixtures, tooling, and production methods to improve ergonomics, quality, and efficiency in assembly operations.
  • Create and maintain routings and bills of materials to accurately reflect manufacturing processes and material usage.
  • Support and participate in quality audits and safety investigations, ensuring findings are addressed and improvements are implemented.
  • Train users on manufacturing systems and processes, and evaluate workforce training needs to support consistent and reliable production performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement using Lean Manufacturing, 5S, DMAIC, and related methodologies across the manufacturing area.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality, and engineering, to support new product introduction and major assembly initiatives.
  • Prepare and deliver effective presentations and updates to production personnel and operational leadership regarding process changes, performance, and improvement initiatives.
  • Use manufacturing systems and tools, including ERP and manufacturing-specific applications, to support data entry, analysis, and process control.

Essential Skills

  • Four-year technical degree or equivalent manufacturing experience.
  • Minimum of three years of manufacturing experience, with hands-on support of manufacturing or assembly operations.
  • Demonstrated experience in PFMEA, control plans, and PPAP or SPAP activities.
  • Experience assembly process development and optimization.
  • Practical experience with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, DMAIC, or continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience performing time studies, line balancing, value-stream mapping, or man-machine analysis.
  • Proven ability to lead root-cause analysis and corrective-action initiatives for process and quality issues.
  • Experience with routings and bill of materials (BOM) creation or maintenance.
  • Hands-on involvement in fixture, tooling, and production-method development.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with manufacturing ERP systems, including exposure to LN or similar manufacturing software.
  • Exposure to Teamcenter Manufacturing or NX or similar product lifecycle and manufacturing systems.
  • Experience in industrial engineering techniques such as time studies, line balancing, and value-stream mapping.
  • Advanced product quality planning (APQP) and related documentation.
  • Demonstrated success in continuous improvement, process improvement, and manufacturing process optimization.
  • Experience in root cause failure analysis and safety-related process improvements.
  • Ability to work in a hands-on engineering role, engaging directly with production processes and personnel.
  • Comfort working on high-impact projects tied to major assembly initiatives and visible process ownership
