Job Description
We are looking for a Compliance, Customer Specialist to support customer interactions and account administration for a detail-focused services environment in Fresno, California. This Long-term Contract position focuses on delivering responsive service through phone and electronic communication while helping customers understand tax-related obligations and resolve account issues. The role also involves reviewing documentation, maintaining accurate records, and contributing to compliance efforts through careful research and follow-up.
Responsibilities:
• Respond to incoming calls, place outbound calls, and manage email communication to address customer questions and account needs.
• Interpret applicable municipal codes to determine tax responsibility for accounts within assigned jurisdictions.
• Guide taxpayers through inquiries in a call center setting with clear, attentive, and service-oriented communication.
• Review and process applications, statements, and supporting documents with a high level of accuracy and organization.
• Calculate business tax invoice amounts and identify inconsistencies that require correction or follow-up.
• Monitor delinquent accounts, support collection activities, and contact customers to obtain missing information or payment updates.
• Update account records, prepare payment batch documentation, and maintain organized files through scanning and general administrative support.
• Use available data to identify potentially non-compliant businesses and issue appropriate notifications or outbound correspondence.
• Support call quality and operational effectiveness by assisting with call center monitoring and related follow-up activities.• At least 2 years of experience in customer service, call center operations, or a related customer experience role.
• Ability to work at a computer for extended periods during a standard five-day workweek.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and comfort navigating multiple browser-based systems.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for phone conversations, email correspondence, and document handling.
• Demonstrated attention to detail with the ability to compare data, recognize discrepancies, and complete accurate calculations.
• Ability to analyze information, apply sound judgment, and solve customer issues involving account or compliance questions.
• Experience handling outbound follow-up, account maintenance, and general office tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to attentive customer service and adherence to company policies and regulatory expectations.
