Job Title: Manufacturing EngineerJob Description

This Manufacturing Engineer role focuses on driving industrial development, production methods, and process improvements within a plant environment. The position contributes directly to industrial footprint planning, equipment selection, plant layout, and industrial trials while ensuring health, safety, and ergonomic convergence. The role requires strong collaboration with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and customers, as well as the ability to manage projects, solve complex problems, and continuously improve processes using data-driven methodologies.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to all industrial development work packages at the plant, including industrial footprint definition, equipment selection (new, reuse, or shared equipment), plant layout design, and industrial trials.
  • Support the head of Industrial Development in defining and executing industrial development activities for the program.
  • Participate in activities to ensure health, safety, and environmental (HSE) compliance and ergonomic convergence within the plant.
  • Work functionally within the plant and program team to support production, methods, and industrialization initiatives.
  • Collaborate effectively with the business unit program team, plant personnel, technical experts (AME team), equipment suppliers, and other stakeholders.
  • Promote collaboration with internal and external customers at all levels to ensure alignment on industrial development and production objectives.
  • Create detailed project plans and timelines based on input from team members, ensuring clarity of task dependencies and potential impacts on project timing.
  • Interpret and analyze technical procedures and customer specifications to translate requirements into robust manufacturing processes.
  • Lead or support process engineering and manufacturing engineering activities, including process improvements and industrialization of new or existing products.
  • Apply long-term planning and structured problem-solving skills, including 4C methodology, to resolve production and industrialization issues.
  • Contribute to equipment and tooling procurement activities, including evaluation of needs, supplier coordination, and support for installation and commissioning.
  • Utilize financial understanding to support program-related cost estimation, P&L considerations, and investment planning for industrial development.
  • Manage time independently and organize work to prioritize multiple tasks and projects effectively.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives on the shop floor using fact-based, data-driven approaches and gemba (shopfloor) observations.
  • Use Microsoft Office applications to prepare reports, presentations, project documentation, and data analyses related to industrial development and production performance.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Business Administration.
  • At least 5 years of experience in production, including methods and industrialization.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a plant environment and within a program team.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with business unit program teams, plant staff, technical experts, equipment suppliers, and customers.
  • Open-minded mindset focused on continuous improvement, data-driven decision making, and shopfloor (gemba) engagement.
  • Familiarity with financial aspects of programs, including cost estimation, profit and loss (P&L), and investment planning.
  • Experience in equipment and tooling procurement.
  • Long-term planning capabilities and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively interact and collaborate with team members and customers at all organizational levels.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Proficiency in problem solving using 4C methodology.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze technical procedures and customer specifications.
  • Independent and organized work style, with the ability to manage time and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Ability to create project plans and timelines and to understand task dependencies and their impact on project schedules.
  • Technical expertise in manufacturing engineering, process engineering, project management, industrialization, and process improvements.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience contributing to industrial development activities, including industrial footprint definition, plant equipment selection, plant layout, MIFD/MIFA, and industrial trials.
  • Ability to support industrial development leadership in defining and executing industrial development strategies.
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams that include plant operations, advanced manufacturing engineering (AME), and external equipment suppliers.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote collaboration and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Comfort with data analysis and fact-based decision making to support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Understanding of HSE and ergonomic principles within a manufacturing environment.
Work Environment

This role is based in a plant environment with frequent engagement on the shop floor to observe processes, support industrial trials, and drive continuous improvement. The position involves close collaboration with production teams, program teams, technical experts, and equipment suppliers, using standard office technologies such as Microsoft Office for documentation, analysis, and communication. Work may include participation in equipment and tooling procurement activities, plant layout reviews, and industrial development workshops, requiring a mix of office-based tasks and hands-on activities in manufacturing areas.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Athens, AL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $100000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
