Laboratory Technician – 3rd Shift

Location: Fort Worth, TX
Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 11:00 PM–7:30 AM
Pay: $23-25 per hour, dependent upon level of experience

Kelly Science & Clinical is seeking a Laboratory Technician for a contract-to-hire opportunity with a leading manufacturing organization in Fort Worth, TX. This position is ideal for someone with hands-on laboratory experience who enjoys working independently in a manufacturing environment and performing routine chemical, physical, and microbiological testing.

A Day in the Life
The Laboratory Technician will perform sampling and routine testing to determine the chemical, physical, and microbiological characteristics or composition of solid and liquid materials. This work helps ensure process and quality control measures are effective while maintaining compliance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and laboratory safety requirements.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Perform physical and chemical testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products
  • Verify test results conform to product and customer specifications
  • Ensure timely delivery of test results, including issuing Certificates of Analysis (COAs)
  • File testing information and maintain laboratory analysis databases
  • Prepare chemical solutions according to standard formulas
  • Operate laboratory equipment, including gas and liquid chromatographs, balances, colorimeters, refractometers, and related instrumentation
  • Perform microbiological sampling, swabbing, and testing either in-house or through external laboratories
  • Follow all laboratory safety procedures, including proper use of eye and hand protection, fume hoods, and other required protective equipment
  • Assist with general laboratory upkeep, including cleaning instruments, glassware, vials, tubes, counters, cabinets, and fixtures
  • Maintain laboratory chemical inventories, ensuring proper storage, adequate supply, and safe disposal of chemical waste
  • Maintain critical laboratory logs and generate related graphs, charts, and tables
  • Follow applicable laboratory policies and procedures to support accurate, reliable, and efficient laboratory operations
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required, some college preferred 
  • Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience may be considered
  • Ideally, 2–3 years of laboratory experience in oils and fats, food processing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, grain milling, or a related industry
  • Experience with laboratory instrumentation and routine chemical testing
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to laboratory safety
  • Self-starter with strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Ability to read and interpret written and verbal instructions, safety rules, operating procedures, diagrams, and schedules
  • Ability to complete routine reports and correspondence
  • Strong practical problem-solving skills and the ability to work with limited standardization
  • Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts, including fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions
  • ERP experience, such as SAP, is preferred
  • Must be willing and able to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and on-call as needed
