Job Title: Pipe Welder/Fitter
Job Description
Join our team as a Pipe Welder/Fitter, where you will fit and weld steel and stainless steel components using various welding processes, including GMAW, FCAW, SMAW, GTAW, and SAW. You will weld components in all positions and perform casting repairs, using techniques such as MIG and stick welding, volumetric replacement, and carbon arc gouging. This role requires interpreting blueprints, customer specifications, and technical drawings to ensure precise workmanship and adherence to safety, quality, and productivity goals.
Responsibilities
- Fit and weld steel and stainless steel using GMAW, FCAW, SMAW, GTAW, and SAW processes.
- Weld components in all positions, including out-of-position work.
- Read and interpret blueprints, customer specifications, and technical drawings.
- Perform casting repairs, including MIG and stick welding to repair voids, cracks, or add stock.
- Utilize volumetric replacement welding techniques.
- Conduct carbon arc gouging to remove excess stock or defects.
- Grind and chisel to clean and finish welds.
Essential Skills
- Minimum 4 years of proven welding and fabrication experience with steel and stainless steel using GMAW, SMAW, GTAW, and SAW.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and customer specifications.
- Ability to weld out of position.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Ability to work with limited direct supervision.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Preferred Certifications: ASME section IX, AWS D1.1/D1.4 (steel), AWS D1.6 (stainless steel), FCAW Dual Shield Certification, FMAW (MIG) certification, GTAW (TIG) certification.
- Aluminum welding experience (GTAW/GMAW) preferred.
- Air Carbon Arc gouging experience preferred.
- Good attendance record.
- Experience working in a foundry, shipyard, or gas & oil field.

Work Environment
Our facility, which has been in operation since 1897, is situated on 17 acres with several industrial buildings. The environment is highly industrial and can be outdated, with conditions that may be wet, hot, or cold due to open bay doors. Most of our business is government-contracted with secured contracts for the next six years. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, with shifts from 6 AM to 2:30 PM or 2:30 PM to 11 PM.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Tacoma, WA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $48484.80 - $66560.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
