A well-established nonprofit human services organization is seeking a Clinician to join their Behavioral Health team as a Functional Family Therapist (FFT) to support youth ages 11–17 and their families throughout Albany County. This is an opportunity to build meaningful therapeutic relationships, help families navigate complex challenges, and see firsthand the impact of your work.

What You'll Do:

\n

As a Functional Family Therapist, you'll provide intensive, strengths-based family therapy designed to help stabilize families, strengthen relationships, reduce risk factors, and help young people remain safely in their homes and communities.

You'll:

\n

\n
• Build trusting therapeutic relationships with youth and their families.
\n
• Provide intensive family therapy in clients' homes.
\n
• Assess family dynamics, strengths, challenges, risk factors, and protective factors.
\n
• Develop individualized treatment plans focused on meaningful and sustainable behavior change.
\n
• Help families strengthen communication, relationships, parenting strategies, and problem-solving skills.
\n
• Support families through periods of crisis and help them develop the skills to manage future challenges.
\n
• Collaborate with schools, county partners, behavioral health providers, and other professionals involved with the family.
\n
• Develop relapse-prevention and discharge plans that help families maintain progress after services end.
\n
• Receive specialized training in the Functional Family Therapy (FFT) model (FFTLLC).

Licensure

\n

Candidates must be licensed or license-eligible in New York as one of the following:

\n

LMSW, LCSW, LMHC, LMFT, or LCAT. Candidates eligible to practice under a New York State Limited Permit are also encouraged to apply.

\n

\n

Recent graduates of MSW, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy, and Creative Arts Therapy programs are encouraged to apply. Relevant graduate internship experience working with youth and families is valued.

\n

Schedule & Work Environment:

\n

This is a full-time, Monday–Friday hybrid/community-based position, with a mix of community (in-home), office, and remote work. Because we meet families when they're available, some after school and after work hours are expected.

\n

• Approximately 50% of your time will be spent providing services to youth and families in their homes and communities throughout Albany County. Mileage is reimbursed at the Federal rate.
\n
• Approximately 25% will be spent working from the Albany office.
\n
• Remaining administrative and documentation responsibilities may include opportunities to work remotely.
\n
• A valid driver's license and acceptable driving record are required.
\n

Salary:

\n

Starting salary is based on licensure and relevant post-license experience:

\n

\n
• Limited Permit: $70,500
\n
• Fully Licensed LMSW, LMHC, LMFT or LCAT with less than 2 years of relevant post-license experience: $73,000
\n
• Fully Licensed with 2+ years of relevant post-license experience: $75,500
\n
• Fully Licensed with 5+ years of relevant post-license experience: $79,000
