Job Description
Join Great Dane’s structural fabrication team and help us deliver industry-leading trailers and truck bodies. We’re expanding and looking for welders who thrive in fast-paced production and are committed to quality workmanship.
What you get- Pay: $22.25–$27.00 per hour
- Night shift premium: +$0.50/hour
- Two weeks of paid vacation
- Monday–Thursday workweek
- 1st Shift: 6:00 AM–4:30 PM
- 2nd Shift: 4:30 PM–3:00 AM
- Overtime available
- Configure welding equipment (gas, volts, amps, wire speed) and make minor adjustments as needed.
- Perform welds on flat, curved, and vertical surfaces—including overhead work.
- Load raw materials and parts; remove finished workpieces and scrap from machines.
- Deburr and clean: file, grind, and scrape sharp edges, burrs, scale, and rust.
- Straighten and true parts; hammer out bent or warped sections.
- Sort, mark, and tag completed work to specification.
- Move material independently or by signaling a crane operator.
- Verify conformance using a straight edge or template.
- Maintain a clean work area, machines, tools, and equipment.
- Perform additional routine duties that support production goals.
- Proficiency with pneumatic power tools and shop equipment.
- Accurate tape-measure reading and use of measuring tools.
- Ability to read blueprints and manufacturing orders.
- Follow verbal and written instructions; communicate effectively in English.
- Multi-tasker who retains procedures and meets/exceeds required production levels.
- Quality-focused: inspect your own product per SOPs.
- Cost-conscious: minimize scrap and waste; use supplies efficiently.
- Identify problems early and resolve them promptly.
- Lift up to 50 lbs multiple times per shift.
- Stand/walk on concrete 8–12 hours; reach, grasp, stoop, kneel, twist, crawl, carry, climb ladders, work overhead, push, and pull.
- Stay alert and safety-focused at all times.
- Maneuver large components (up to 180 lbs) by pushing, pulling, and flipping.
- Hands-on mechanical aptitude and ability to follow supervisor instruction.
- Aptitude to learn and retain new information.
- Accurately read a tape measure and other gauges.
