MRI Supervisor / Acute Care Imaging

A large healthcare organization in North Texas is seeking an experienced MRI Supervisor to provide clinical and operational leadership within a high-volume hospital imaging department.

This is a full-time, permanent day-shift position for a seasoned MRI Technologist with substantial acute-care experience. The ideal candidate will be comfortable supporting complex inpatient, emergency, critical-care, and trauma imaging while also serving as a clinical resource for MRI safety, implantable devices, protocols, image quality, equipment troubleshooting, and staff development. This is a working supervisor role, combining hands-on MRI responsibilities with leadership of the imaging team.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day clinical oversight of MRI operations and staff.
• Perform MRI examinations as needed based on patient volume, staffing, and case complexity.
• Support imaging for a broad acute-care population, including inpatients, outpatients, emergency department patients, critical-care patients, neonatal patients, and trauma cases.
• Serve as a clinical resource for MRI safety, complex implantable devices, image quality, protocol optimization, and equipment troubleshooting.
• Assist with the evaluation and safe imaging of patients with pacemakers and other implantable devices.
• Support MRI emergency preparedness and response within controlled MRI safety zones.
• Use and support MRI-compatible equipment, including ventilators, IV pumps, and related devices.
• Train, mentor, and support MRI Technologists and other imaging staff.
• Participate in protocol development, protocol modification, and troubleshooting based on patient needs and imaging quality.
• Assist with staffing, scheduling, workflow, competencies, and efficient use of department resources.
• Support orientation, staff development, performance expectations, and ongoing clinical education.
• Ensure required certifications, registrations, and competencies remain current.
• Collaborate with imaging leadership, radiologists, physicians, nursing teams, and other clinical departments.
• Participate in quality improvement, policy implementation, and operational initiatives.
• Serve as a leadership resource when department management is unavailable.

Schedule

• Full-time, permanent position
• Day shift
• Typical schedule approximately 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
• Some flexibility based on department needs
• Holiday call rotation
• Backup call responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited imaging or Radiologic Technology program.
• Appropriate MRI or radiology registry/certification.
• BLS certification or ability to obtain within the required timeframe.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant MRI experience.
• Strong recent experience in a high-volume acute-care hospital MRI environment.
• Experience supporting a combination of inpatient, outpatient, ED, ICU/NICU, and trauma imaging.
• Experience researching and safely scanning patients with pacemakers and other complex implantable devices.
• Strong knowledge of MRI safety and emergency response.
• Experience with MRI-compatible ventilators, IV pumps, and related equipment.
• Demonstrated leadership experience within MRI or advanced imaging.

Leadership Experience

Candidates should be able to demonstrate meaningful leadership responsibilities rather than title alone. Relevant experience may include:

• Acting as an MRI safety resource or MRSO.
• Training and onboarding new MRI Technologists.
• Building or modifying MRI protocols.
• Adjusting protocols based on patient condition or clinical need.
• Troubleshooting image-quality issues.
• Troubleshooting MRI equipment, coils, pumps, or related technology.
• Supporting staffing, workflow, competencies, or department operations.
• Serving as a clinical escalation resource for other technologists.

Preferred Qualifications

The following experience is valued but may be taught after hire:

• Intraoperative MRI workflow experience.
• Advanced staff scheduling or time-and-attendance responsibilities.
• Coaching or corrective-action experience.
• Project management experience.
• Broader administrative leadership responsibilities.
