THE POSITION

The County Caseworker 1 position with Indiana County Child Welfare offers a meaningful chance to support children, youth, and families during times of need. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role supports children, youth, and families by addressing safety concerns, guiding individuals toward helpful resources, and encouraging emotional and behavioral improvement. As a County Caseworker 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • Family Support: Assist children, youth, and families in improving safety, stability, and well-being
  • Information Gathering: Collect essential details to help families access appropriate services
  • Case Documentation: Maintain accurate records following regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Resource Coordination: Connect individuals to available community supports and services
  • Child Welfare Services: Provide guidance to abused or neglected children to promote healthier development
  • Skill Development: Encourage emotional and behavioral growth for children and adolescents

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
    • This position requires on-call and covering other emergencies outside regular hours.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college level course work which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
  • A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.

Other Requirements:
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
