DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role supports individuals of all ages by connecting them with services, monitoring their progress, and encouraging personal growth. As a County Caseworker 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • Service Monitoring: Track services and evaluate how well they meet individual needs
  • Resource Linking: Connect individuals to helpful programs, supports, and referrals
  • Case Documentation: Maintain accurate records in required computer systems and charts
  • Plan Development: Organize and lead meetings to create individualized service plans
  • Crisis Support: Provide intervention during urgent or stressful situations
  • Community Coordination: Work with agency staff, providers, and resources to support individuals

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
    • On occasion, staff may need to work hours outside of the set work week to complete projects, meet work demands or in the event of an emergency.
    • Hours may vary to meet the needs of the consumers.
  • This position reports to the DBHS Office in Bedford for work. At times, may provide coverage in Somerset County.
  • Telework: This position reports to the DBHS Office for work. Upon hire, new staff begin training and are on probation for 6 months. New staff may be eligible for a hybrid of on-site and remote work after 3-months of employment.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college level course work which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
  • A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.

Other Requirements:
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
