In this role, you support important mental health programs that make the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Somerset a safe and stable environment. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position focuses on directing psychological services that support inmate well-being, program development, and staff performance at SCI Somerset. You oversee activities that strengthen treatment planning, crisis intervention, and professional standards. As a Licensed Psychologist Manager, Corrections, you will perform the following duties:
- Staff Leadership: Supervise psychological staff, provide guidance, and support consistent delivery of mental health services
- Program Oversight: Manage psychological services programs, develop procedures, and support integration of new practices
- Committee Direction: Lead major institutional committees that focus on reception, crisis response, and mental health review
- Clinical Standards: Establish staff competencies, review psychological testing, and ensure accuracy in diagnostic reports
- Consultation Support: Serve as a consultant for specialized units, advise staff on treatment matters, and guide case management decisions
- Accreditation Compliance: Maintain standards required for accreditation and provide expert testimony when needed

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 37.5-hour work week
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as a Licensed Psychologist MH or Psychologist (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- One year of experience as a licensed professional psychologist in the treatment of inmates or individuals with mental illness, intellectual disabilities or behavioral dysfunction.
Special Requirements:
- You must be in possession of a valid license to practice psychology as issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Psychology or possession of a valid license to practice psychology as issued by another state with licensure requirements acceptable to the Board. Applicants with out-of-state licensure must obtain Pennsylvania licensure within one year of employment.
Other Requirements:
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
