Start Dates and School

Our company-paid classes at Grand Rapids Community College Advanced Technology Center start this Fall. You can begin work immediately or start after you complete high school—then transition into the coursework as it kicks off.

• Basic CNC programming; Haas CNC mill and Haas CNC lathe

• Blueprint reading; shop math; GD&T
• Metallurgy; Machinery’s Handbook; SPC

What You’ll Do

• Operate lathes, mills, and grinders under supervision to produce precise parts.
• Develop the ability to interpret prints and technical specifications.
• Support experienced machinists with troubleshooting and quality checks.
• Maintain a tidy, safe work area aligned with shop procedures.
• Participate in workshops and training to expand your capabilities.
• Conduct routine inspections and basic maintenance on shop equipment.
• Collaborate with the team to achieve production targets and meet schedules.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn.
• Introductory knowledge of machining tools/processes helpful, not required.
