Organization: Boys & Girls Club of Carbon CountyPosition Type: Seasonal / School Year / Part-TimeReports To: Site DirectorPosition SummaryThe Youth Development Professional (YDP) is responsible for creating a safe, fun, and engaging environment for youth during our afterschool program at Sally Mauro Elementary in Helper, Utah. YDPs build positive relationships with members, lead activities, supervise groups, and support daily operations while helping youth learn, grow, and have an unforgettable afterschool experience.This role is ideal for energetic, dependable individuals who enjoy working with children, leading groups, and making a positive impact in their community.Program Dates & ScheduleAfterschool Program Runs: August 2026 to May 2027Required Staff Training: Begins approximately two weeks prior to program startWork Hours:  Tuesday through Friday, 1:30 pm to 6 pm Tuesday – Friday ScheduleKey ResponsibilitiesYouth Supervision & SafetyProvide active supervision of youth at all times.Effectively manage and engage large groups of children in a safe, structured, and positive environment.Maintain appropriate staff-to-youth ratios and awareness of all members at all times.Follow all organization policies, procedures, and behavior management expectations.Respond appropriately to incidents, injuries, or emergencies.Program DeliveryLead and assist with daily activities, games, enrichment programs, and field trips.Facilitate age-appropriate activities in areas such as STEM, sports, arts, leadership, literacy, and social-emotional learning.Keep groups organized, engaged, and participating during transitions and activities.Help create a fun and memorable summer experience.Relationship BuildingBuild positive relationships with youth, families, and staff.Serve as a positive role model through words, attitude, and actions.Support youth in developing confidence, teamwork, and respect for others.Teamwork & OperationsWork collaboratively with site staff to ensure smooth daily operations.Assist with set-up, clean-up, attendance tracking, snack/lunch service, and transitions.Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development.Communicate concerns and successes with leadership staff.QualificationsMust be at least 18 years old (or age requirement based on organization needs).Experience working with youth preferred.Ability to confidently manage large groups of children in a fast-paced environment.High energy, positive attitude, and strong communication skills.Dependable, punctual, and professional.CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).Must pass background check and any required screenings.Why Join Our Team?Make a meaningful impact in the lives of youth.Gain valuable experience in education, leadership, and youth development.Work in a fun, energetic summer environment.Build professional skills while creating lasting memories.Apply Today!Join us this summer and help create a safe, exciting, and life-changing experience for youth in our community. DISCLAIMER: The information presented indicates the general nature and level of work expected of employees in this classification.
