LPN - Corrections - Somerset - Now Hiring

WCS Healthcare Partners is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide nursing care within a correctional healthcare setting in Somerset, Pennsylvania.

Schedule

• Float Position
• 8-hour shifts
• The selected candidate may work up to two different shifts within a two-week period.
• Every other weekend off.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide practical nursing care to incarcerated individuals in accordance with physician orders, nursing standards, correctional healthcare policies, and the scope of practice for Licensed Practical Nurses.
• Perform nursing assessments, triage, and ongoing monitoring of acute and chronic medical conditions under appropriate clinical supervision.
• Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of individualized nursing care plans.
• Administer medications, treatments, and immunizations as permitted within the LPN scope of practice while maintaining accurate medication administration records.
• Respond to medical emergencies, initiate appropriate interventions, and notify the appropriate Registered Nurse, physician, or provider as needed.
• Monitor, assess, and document changes in inmate health status, reporting significant findings to the appropriate healthcare provider.
• Collect specimens, perform diagnostic testing, obtain vital signs, and maintain accurate medical documentation.
• Assist with intake screenings, chronic care clinics, sick call, discharge planning, and health education.
• Collaborate with Registered Nurses, physicians, advanced practice providers, mental health professionals, correctional officers, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure continuity of care.
• Maintain patient confidentiality while adhering to all security procedures, facility policies, and applicable state and federal regulations.
• Perform all duties in accordance with the Pennsylvania Nurse Practice Act, correctional healthcare standards, facility policies, and the scope of practice for Licensed Practical Nurses.

Minimum Qualifications

• Current, active Pennsylvania Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in good standing.
• Minimum of one (1) year of recent Licensed Practical Nurse experience required; correctional, emergency, medical-surgical, behavioral health, long-term care, or acute care experience preferred.
• Current BLS certification required.
• Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
• Ability to accurately document assessments, treatments, and inmate health information in an electronic medical record.
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and emergency response skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a secure correctional environment while maintaining professionalism and therapeutic communication.
