Wallpaper Block Printer — Adelphi Paper Hangings

Adelphi Paper Hangings, located in Sharon Springs, New York, produces historically accurate, hand block-printed wallpapers. We're hiring a full-time production printer to join our team.

Our printing process uses traditional, hand-operated equipment, including a woodblock printing press, so the role requires physical stamina, dexterity, and strength — including the ability to lift 60 lbs on a regular basis. Block printing is repetitive work that demands sustained focus and attention to detail. No prior printing experience is necessary — we'll train you.

What you'll do:

• Operate a wood block printing press
• Apply background color to blank paper rolls ("grounding")
• Learn to formulate paint bases and mix colors
• Learn the basics of printing block repair and maintenance
• Keep the workspace clean and organized

What we're looking for:
We're a small, close-knit workshop, so you'll need to work well alongside other printers, take direction easily, and stay open to feedback.

A background in studio art is a plus, as is a genuine interest in 18th- and 19th-century design and material culture. Computer skills aren't required, but familiarity with Photoshop, InDesign, or WordPress is a bonus.

Sharon Springs is a small town in a rural part of upstate New York, about an hour from Albany, the nearest city. This role is a good fit for someone who enjoys — or doesn't mind — a quieter, small-town setting.
