Job Description
Hines Building Maintenance (HBM) is seeking a dependable Temporary Day Porter to support the daily custodial needs of a school campus. This position helps maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors throughout the school day.
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
Position Type: Temporary through September 30th, with the possibility of extension
Responsibilities
- Perform custodial and cleaning duties throughout the school day.
- Clean and maintain classrooms, offices, hallways, restrooms, common areas, and other campus spaces.
- Respond to spills, restroom issues, trash, and other cleaning needs as they arise.
- Empty trash and recycling and replenish restroom and cleaning supplies.
- Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces and frequently used areas.
- Assist with basic room setups, moving supplies, and other campus support as assigned.
- Maintain custodial equipment and supplies in a clean and organized manner.
- Follow all school safety procedures, HBM policies, and assigned training requirements.
- Perform other custodial and facilities-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous custodial, janitorial, or day porter experience preferred.
- Ability to work independently and respond promptly to cleaning needs throughout the campus.
- Ability to perform physical work, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, and carrying throughout the shift.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 40 lbs occasionally.
- Dependable, punctual, and professional when working in a school environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and school staff.
- Must be able to successfully complete all background screening and other requirements applicable to working on a school campus.
This is a temporary position intended to provide custodial support during the school day. The Day Porter will work around students, faculty, staff, and visitors and is expected to maintain a professional and service-oriented approach at all times.
