Position Overview

We are seeking a Quantity Survey Technician to support field-based auditing, corrosion management, maintenance activities, and fleet/fuel program administration at a large chemical manufacturing site in Midland.

This is a hands-on, field-oriented role requiring frequent travel throughout the plant site, outdoor work, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in an industrial environment. The successful candidate will work closely with company employees and contractor partners to assess work, verify billing accuracy, and support maintenance planning activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform unit-rate audits for scaffolding, painting, insulation, and maintenance-related projects to verify supplier billing accuracy and work quality.
  • Conduct field assessments of piping, tanks, and other plant assets as part of the site's corrosion management program.
  • Evaluate and categorize corrosion conditions to support maintenance planning and budgeting.
  • Perform ongoing site inspections and reassessments throughout the year.
  • Support administration of the site's vehicle fleet and fuel management program.
  • Maintain tracking information, documentation, and reporting using Excel-based tools and systems.
  • Communicate with contractors and internal stakeholders regarding field findings, work quality, quantities, and billing discrepancies.
  • Support various site activities requiring field observation, measurement, inspection, and documentation.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, Vocational Education, or equivalent required.
  • Approximately 2–5 years of relevant industrial experience preferred.
  • Experience in a chemical plant, refinery, industrial manufacturing, or similar operating environment strongly preferred.
  • Experience with maintenance planning, industrial construction, scaffolding, painting, insulation, or related projects is highly desirable.
  • Exposure to corrosion management, coatings, asset integrity, inspection, or industrial maintenance preferred.
  • Familiarity with piping systems, tanks, and industrial equipment is a plus.
  • Experience performing measurements, inspections, audits, or quality assessments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and ability to maintain accurate tracking and reporting.

Highly Desired

  • NACE certification or similar coatings/corrosion certification.
  • Knowledge of industrial painting and corrosion prevention programs.
  • Experience working with contractor partners and verifying field work against agreed requirements or rates.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong attention to detail and observational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Comfortable spending significant time in the field and outdoors.
  • Ability to interact effectively with both company personnel and contractors.
  • Willingness to learn and follow site-specific safety requirements and operating procedures.
  • Comfortable working in an active chemical plant environment.

Work Environment

This position involves significant field work throughout the year, including outdoor work in varying weather conditions and frequent travel throughout the Midland site using company fleet vehicles.

Candidates must be comfortable working in an industrial/chemical plant environment and wearing required PPE, including safety boots, gloves, hard hat, and potentially FR-rated clothing.

Candidates with experience in the following environments are encouraged to apply:
