Position Summary
The Pick/Ship Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the personnel and equipment involved in the pick and ship operations, ensuring alignment with control tower directives. This role collaborates cross-functionally with all departments to achieve timely, accurate order fulfillment that satisfies customer requirements. The Supervisor coordinates with staffing agencies for workforce management and adherence to timekeeping policies, and partners with the control tower regarding labor management and order prioritization.
Key Responsibilities
- Recruit, onboard, and ensure comprehensive training of new staff within picking and shipping departments.
- Lead performance management processes for all team members.
- Ensure all departmental procedures and quality control processes are documented, maintained, and followed.
- Manage inventory of supplies and equipment to guarantee operational efficiency.
- Monitor and coordinate order picking for shipping, leveraging WMS in accordance with control tower guidance.
- Proactively communicate any potential order delays to the control tower.
- Investigate and respond to all control tower inquiries promptly and professionally.
- Ensure compliance with customer requirements and vendor-specific shipping protocols.
- Oversee the continuous flow of products on conveyors to designated areas.
- Maintain accurate records in Kronos and manage departmental metrics in Excel, integrating WMS reports.
- Supervise picking and shipping functions on the operational floor.
- Ensure all shipping system procedures and end-of-shift closeout processes are thoroughly completed.
Qualifications
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Extensive experience with SAP or equivalent Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) is required.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt to dynamic and high-pressure situations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proven leadership, organizational, and interpersonal abilities.
- In-depth knowledge of picking and shipping procedures and carriers including UPS, DHL, and FedEx.
- Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and strong team player.
- Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience or equivalent.
- Experience working with Kronos.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a SAP and/or WMS environment.
- At least 2 years’ experience with inventory research.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.
- Capacity to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Qualified to operate a forklift and walkee rider.
- Work is performed in a light manufacturing facility with typical production area noise levels.
