Job Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lay out, position, align, and fit structural steel components according to shop drawings.

  • Read and interpret fabrication drawings and fabrication details.

  • Use power tools and hand tools to prepare, modify, and fit steel components.

  • Perform basic tack welding and assist with welding activities as needed.

  • Assist with bolted structural steel connections.

  • Use rigging equipment to safely lift, move, and position structural steel members.

  • Complete structural steel assemblies for Quality Control (QC) inspection.

  • Measure and align steel components accurately to ensure proper fit and assembly.

  • Safely operate and maintain fabrication and fitting equipment.

  • Follow all required equipment, shop, and workplace safety procedures.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

  • Collaborate with supervisors and other crew members to maintain an efficient shop-floor workflow.

Qualifications and Certifications:

  • Previous structural steel fabrication or fitting experience is preferred.

  • Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and shop drawings.

  • Basic tack welding skills.

  • Experience working with structural steel components.

  • Ability to safely operate and maintain hand tools and power tools used in steel fabrication and fitting.

  • Knowledge of rigging practices for lifting, moving, and positioning structural steel.

  • Understanding and proper use of equipment and workplace safety procedures.

  • Strong attention to detail and spatial awareness.

  • Ability to measure, align, and fit steel components accurately.

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision while following instructions and specifications.

  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

  • Physical ability to stand, lift, bend, and perform other job-related physical tasks.

  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.

  • Benefits Eligibility: Benefits become available after a 90-day waiting period.

  • Paid Vacation: 1 week of paid vacation after completing 1 year of employment and 2 weeks after completing 2 years.
