Job Description

Job Description
A day in the shop

Clock in early, review detailed blueprints, lay out materials to tight tolerances, and bring custom industrial enclosures to life. You’ll move from layout to fit-up, execute precision MIG welds on sheet and structural steel, verify alignment, and assemble components into finished, field-ready systems for high-profile data center projects.

Where you’ll do it
  • Location: Itasca, IL
  • Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire (strong long-term potential)
Pay & schedule
  • Compensation: $22–$28 per hour (up to $30/hr based on experience) + significant overtime
  • Schedule: 1st shift, typically 5:00 AM–4:30 PM; Saturdays as needed
  • Overtime: Willingness to ramp to 60–65 hours/week during peak demand
Why this isn’t production welding

Join a century-strong manufacturer in a hyper-growth phase, scaling revenue from roughly $30M to $80M+ in active orders. You’ll contribute to engineered, one-off builds—not repetitive, assembly-line work—as the company expands facilities, adds headcount weekly, and supports global tech leaders’ data center infrastructure.

What you’ll build and do
  • Fabricate and assemble custom industrial enclosures for critical infrastructure
  • Read and interpret complex mechanical blueprints, including large assemblies
  • Measure, cut, fit, and verify components to tight tolerances
  • Execute full-cycle fabrication: layout → fit-up → MIG weld → assembly
  • Use saws, grinders, drills, and precision measuring tools (tape, calipers, micrometers)
  • Operate overhead cranes and related shop equipment safely
  • Confirm structural integrity, squareness, and alignment before final assembly
What you bring
  • 3–5+ years welding/fabrication in job-shop or custom environments (non-production preferred)
  • Proven blueprint reading capability; experience with large, complex builds is a plus
  • Skill with precision measurement and working to tight tolerances
  • MIG proficiency required; TIG experience is a plus
  • Hands-on fabricator mindset—beyond just running beads
  • Mechanical assembly experience is highly preferred
  • Comfort with significant overtime during ramp-up periods
Work environment & growth
  • Mix of indoor and outdoor work based on project needs
  • Rapidly growing team, adding new hires weekly
  • Strong likelihood of conversion to long-term employment (many stay beyond 6 months)
  • Opportunity to grow with a company expanding its facilities and capabilities
What you’ll gain
  • Consistent overtime and strong earning potential
  • Hands-on exposure to large-scale, custom engineering projects
  • Stability from a company with 100+ years of history—and big growth ahead
  • Meaningful, craftsmanship-driven work—no assembly line repetition
Interview process
  • One-step onsite interview
  • Fast feedback—typically within 48 hours
Are you the one?

You like building, not just welding. You take pride in precision. You want steady hours, strong pay, and a path to long-term stability. You’re open to overtime and excited by a contract-to-hire opportunity. If that sounds right, let’s talk.
