Job Description

The Industrial Engineer plans the utilization of facilities, equipment, materials, and personnel to improve the efficiency of warehouse, manufacturing, and/or logistics operations. This role supports equipment, parts, and supply operations to meet safety, quality, delivery, cost, and environmental goals.

Position Responsibilities
May include:

  • Analyze equipment capacity based on forecasted demand, product design changes, current equipment, and performance.
  • Establish standards for process routings and create new routings per those standards.
  • Analyze workforce utilization, facility layout, and operational data to improve productivity and efficiency.
  • Establish work measurement programs and analyze work samples to develop standards for labor utilization.
  • Recommend methods for improving worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities, such as restructuring job duties.
  • Maintain routings per Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) with minimal direction.
  • Report status of work externally to the team.
  • Calculate the time required to perform tasks or complete production stages and set performance standards.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction, increased quality, and workflow improvements.
  • Coordinate project work internally within the department and externally with other departments to ensure on-time completion.
  • Participate in the design of analyses while gathering necessary data, utilizing SQL and basic database knowledge.
  • Lead individual work assignments with minimal guidance, setting an example for less experienced Industrial Engineers.
  • Establish continuous improvement goals and execute action plans.
  • Perform other job duties as required by supervisor/manager.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Familiarity with multiple manufacturing processes and efficiency analysis techniques.
  • Complete understanding of Safety, Quality, Cost, and Delivery (SQCD) metrics.
  • Proficient in SQL and database knowledge.
  • Knowledgeable in Lean, Kaizen, and 5S principles.
  • Good understanding of Routing and Bill of Materials (BoM).
  • Strong software skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SQL).
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective project management skills.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in teams.
  • Ability to apply good judgment, strong work ethics, and integrity on the job.

Experience

  • 3–5 years of experience in manufacturing, logistics, warehouse design, or process improvement.
  • Experience in projects, analyses, or studies such as Kaizen, capacity analysis, or time studies preferred.

Education/Certification

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field required.
  • Six Sigma certification is a plus.
