Lead Data Center Technician

Seeking an experienced Data Center Lead Technician to lead small installation projects and supervise teams of 3–5 technicians. This role serves as a technical resource while supporting project planning, installation, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead small data center installation projects and field teams.
• Plan and execute project tasks according to drawings, specifications, and scope.
• Interpret construction drawings and ensure work is completed accurately.
• Manage on-site materials, tools, and equipment.
• Perform and oversee installation, termination, testing, and telecom room (TR) build-outs.
• Troubleshoot cable systems and interpret test results.
• Train and mentor technicians on installation and testing procedures.
• Develop and apply Level of Effort (LOE) practices.
• Complete required project documentation and reports.
• Maintain high-quality workmanship in accordance with industry and manufacturer standards.
• Ensure compliance with company, site, and OSHA safety requirements.
• Provide strong customer service and promote teamwork and professionalism.
• Serve as a technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) when required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3–5 years of relevant data center, telecommunications, or low-voltage installation experience.
• Strong knowledge of fiber optics, cable installation, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and project documentation.
• BICSI or other industry certifications preferred.
• Proven leadership and team-training experience.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to climb ladders and work from aerial platforms.
• Ability to crawl, bend, stretch, and work in various environments.
• Ability to work safely in active data center and construction environments.
