About this job
Job Description
A growing manufacturing company is looking for a driven, forward-thinking HR Director to join its Tampa, FL team. This is a newly created, full-time, W-2 position, giving you the chance to shape the role from scratch. Reporting straight to the CEO, the HR Director will oversee three direct reports and deliver both strategic and day-to-day HR guidance across four manufacturing locations nationwide. It's a rare chance for a hands-on HR professional ready to build the function, shape company direction at the leadership level, and establish long-term systems within a thriving company known for its culture and benefits.
What You'll Do
• Act as a trusted advisor to the CEO and senior leadership on workforce and people strategy
• Establish the HR department from scratch — policies, systems, and structure — spanning four plant locations
• Guide, coach, and grow a three-person HR team
• Manage recruiting, new-hire onboarding, and staffing planning company-wide
• Build and administer pay, benefits, and rewards programs that draw in and hold onto strong talent
• Guide employee relations, performance processes, and engagement efforts for a multi-site manufacturing team
• Maintain compliance with employment regulations at the federal, state, and local level across several states
• Work alongside plant and operations leadership to connect HR initiatives with production and business objectives
• Build out training, leadership growth, and succession programs
• Guide HR policy creation and enforce consistency across every site
• Foster a culture centered on safety, ownership, and ongoing improvement
What You Bring
• Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, or a related area required; an advanced degree or credential (SHRM-SCP, SPHR) is a bonus
• At least 10 years of increasingly senior HR experience, including work supporting multi-site industrial or manufacturing operations
• Track record of building or growing an HR department, preferably within an expanding organization
• Solid grasp of labor law, compliance requirements, and HR practices spanning multiple states
• Background supporting manufacturing or commercial construction workforces preferred; at ease on the plant floor engaging directly with staff
• Track record in recruiting, employee relations, total rewards, and M&A support
• Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior executives
• UKG experience and conversational Spanish are a plus
• Willingness to travel to plant sites as needed (roughly 10% overnight)
About the Company
This is an expanding manufacturer serving the commercial construction sector, focused on operational excellence and a culture that puts people first. The company is hiring an experienced HR Director to establish and run the HR function across its four U.S. manufacturing sites.
Benefits
• Competitive salary
• Full health, dental, and vision coverage
• 401(k) with employer match
• Paid holidays and vacation time
• The chance to build an HR function from the ground up, with direct CEO access and strong growth potential
Location
Based on-site in Tampa, Florida. This role does not offer remote or hybrid work.
