Analytical Chemistry Development Scientist
Location: Vernon Hills, IL
Pay Rate: $35.79/hour
Schedule: On-Site, 5 Days per Week
Department: Infection Prevention – Analytical Chemistry
JOB SUMMARY
The Scientist 1, Analytical Chemistry Development will provide analytical chemistry support for chemistry-related projects involving existing products and new product development. This position will support stability testing, analytical method development and validation, product and process changes, and laboratory testing activities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide analytical chemistry support for existing products and new product development projects.
- Support chemistry-related remediation and process or product improvement activities.
- Participate in stability testing programs supporting process and product design changes.
- Develop and validate analytical methodologies for raw materials, in-process materials, and finished product release testing.
- Perform chemistry and analytical performance testing using wet-chemistry and instrumental techniques.
- Conduct testing using pH, titration, UV-Vis, GC, and HPLC methods.
- Review, analyze, and accurately enter laboratory data.
- Prepare and generate scientific protocols, reports, and technical documentation.
- Troubleshoot laboratory and analytical issues and develop effective solutions.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, work areas, and documentation.
- Follow FDA regulations, GMP requirements, laboratory procedures, and safety standards.
- Manage multiple laboratory activities and priorities effectively.
- Collaborate with Regulatory, Manufacturing, Quality, and other cross-functional teams.
- Communicate scientific strategies, testing results, and analytical findings clearly and accurately.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutics, or a related scientific discipline.
- 2–4 years of pharmaceutical analytical chemistry experience.
- Hands-on experience with wet-chemistry techniques.
- Experience with analytical instrumentation including pH, titration, UV-Vis, GC, and HPLC.
- Experience working in an FDA-regulated environment.
- Knowledge of GMP documentation requirements.
- Strong scientific writing and technical documentation skills.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple activities and priorities.
- Ability to interpret and follow written, verbal, diagram, and schedule-based instructions.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- On-site 5 days per week
- Laboratory-based position
- Hands-on analytical chemistry testing and laboratory support
