Job Description
This QC Chemist role focuses on testing raw materials, finished products, process equipment, and environmental samples in a cGMP-regulated environment. You will perform analytical testing, operate laboratory equipment, support quality audits, and maintain accurate documentation to ensure products meet regulatory and company quality standards. This position offers the feel of a close-knit laboratory team with the support and resources of a large organization, along with clear opportunities to move into different shifts and roles over time.
Responsibilities
- Collect and test samples of raw materials, finished products, process equipment, and environmental sources in accordance with cGMP requirements.
- Perform analytical testing on raw materials and finished products following established procedures and regulatory guidelines.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment safely and effectively, ensuring instruments remain in good working condition.
- Document all laboratory activities, test results, and observations accurately and in compliance with cGMP and internal documentation standards.
- Participate in laboratory investigations by assisting in root cause analysis and supporting corrective and preventive actions.
- Contribute to internal and external quality audits by providing data, documentation, and explanations of laboratory practices as needed.
- Maintain an organized personal laboratory work area and assist with general laboratory cleaning to support a safe, clean, and compliant work environment.
- Participate actively in training programs to develop and maintain competency in laboratory methods, cGMP requirements, and quality systems.
- Collaborate with other chemists, microbiology staff, and supervisors to support continuous improvement in laboratory operations and product quality.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in a science discipline.
- Work experience beyond academic studies, such as in retail, food service, or other professional environments.
- Ability to perform testing of raw materials and finished products in a cGMP environment.
- Capability to operate laboratory equipment safely and accurately.
- Strong attention to detail for accurate documentation and recordkeeping.
- Ability to follow written procedures, methods, and regulatory guidelines.
- Willingness to work assigned shifts and adapt to schedule changes as needed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Food Science is preferred.
- 0–2 years of experience in a GMP or FDA-regulated manufacturing environment.
- Experience working in a science, chemistry, or food science laboratory setting.
- Familiarity with cGMP principles and regulated documentation practices.
- Comfort working with raw materials testing, finished product testing, and related laboratory analyses.
- Interest in career growth into other laboratory roles or shifts over time.
Work Environment
You will work in a regulated cGMP laboratory environment focused on science, chemistry, and food science testing. The lab uses standard analytical equipment and follows structured documentation and quality systems. The shift structure includes schedules such as 2:00 p.m.–10:00 a.m. or 2:00 a.m.–10:00 p.m. on a 2-2-3 rotation for training, with an eventual transition to a 6:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. schedule. Upon conversion to a permanent role, an additional shift differential is available. The local team consists of multiple chemists, microbiology technicians, and a supervisor, offering a small-team atmosphere supported by the resources of a large organization. The environment emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and adherence to laboratory safety and cGMP standards.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
