What You’ll LeadThe City of Cortez is hiring a Collection Development Supervisor to guide and coordinate the library’s collection development process, ensuring materials are selected, organized, and maintained in line with sound librarianship practices and the library’s Collection Development Policy. This role also supports library operations through essential clerical and service-related tasks.Key responsibilities include supervising collection development workflows, maintaining accurate files and records, and building reliable electronic and physical file management systems.Required qualifications/skills:- Bachelor’s Degree, or three years of library-related experience (or equivalent combination); Master of Library Science preferred- Strong written and verbal communication skills- Ability to build effective working relationships with co-workers and the public- Computer literacy, including the ability to teach patrons and staff computer skills- Valid Colorado driver licenseIf you’re ready to help shape a community library collection with care and consistency, apply today.Compensation & CoverageThis full-time, onsite position in Cortez pays $25.93 per hour and includes: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Retirement, sick leave, and vacation.A Typical ShiftYour week runs Monday–Friday, with one Saturday each month. You’ll spend time balancing quiet, detail-focused work—reviewing requests, updating records, and keeping both digital and paper systems orderly—with moments at the public desk where questions and needs shift quickly. Some parts of the day are collaborative, touching base with coworkers to keep priorities aligned; other parts are independent, where you can focus on accuracy and follow-through. You may also step in to help someone navigate a computer task, turning a quick interaction into a helpful learning moment. The day ends with the satisfaction of leaving things organized, current, and ready for the next patron.
