Manual Lathe Machinist

We are seeking a skilled Manual Machinist to set up and operate conventional, non-automated machine shop equipment. You will read technical drawings to fabricate, modify, or repair precision metal parts to exact dimensional specifications and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and safely operate manual lathes, vertical mills, drill presses, and grinders.
• Interpret blueprints and engineering drawings. Reverse-engineer worn parts when drawings are missing.
• Measure and mark raw metal stock to plan cuts and minimize waste.
• Apply math for feeds, speeds, thread calculations, and part fits.
• Use micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and bore gauges to hold tight tolerances.
• Support pump, gearbox, shaft, sleeve, and flange rebuilds on custom, one-off parts.
• Perform basic machine maintenance and keep a safe, clean workstation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years operating manual machines in a manufacturing or repair shop.
• Turning, facing, boring, threading, shafts, sleeves, and bushings.
• Bridgeport-style setups, drilling, boring, slotting, keyways, and facing.
• Drill press and radial-arm drill work, including tapping larger holes.
• High-mix repair machining and one-off custom parts.
