Job Description
Position Summary:
We are seeking compassionate, reliable, and experienced Behavioral Health Technicians (BHTs) to join our per diem staffing team. This position provides an opportunity to work flexible shifts with various behavioral health and healthcare clients throughout the Valley based on facility needs and available assignments.
The Behavioral Health Technician will support patients experiencing behavioral health, psychiatric, substance use, and/or mental health challenges while helping maintain a safe, therapeutic, and supportive environment.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care and support to patients in behavioral health and clinical settings.
- Monitor and observe patients to ensure their safety and well-being.
- Assist patients with daily activities and personal care as needed.
- Support patients in developing and maintaining appropriate social and behavioral skills.
- Assist with crisis intervention and de-escalation when appropriate.
- Observe, document, and report changes in patient behavior or condition to the appropriate clinical staff.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment for patients and staff.
- Assist with patient transportation, activities, meals, and other daily routines as assigned.
- Follow facility policies, procedures, safety protocols, and patient confidentiality requirements.
- Work collaboratively with nurses, providers, therapists, and other members of the healthcare team.
- Perform additional duties as assigned based on the needs of the client and facility.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working in behavioral health, mental health, psychiatric care, substance abuse, detox, acute care, or a related healthcare environment preferred.
- 1+ year of experience working directly with patients experiencing behavioral or mental health challenges strongly preferred.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Current CPR/BLS certification may be required.
- Recent negative TB test
- Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging or crisis situations.
Schedule:
This is a Per Diem / PRN position, offering flexibility based on available client assignments and business needs. Shifts may vary and can include:
- Day shifts
- Evening shifts
- Overnight shifts
- Weekends
- Holidays
Per diem employees may have the opportunity to pick up shifts with multiple clients and facilities based on qualifications, experience, credentialing, and available staffing needs.
