Job Description
Tandem Home Care is seeking a dependable, patient, and compassionate caregiver to provide one‐on‐one personal care and supervision for a 24‐year‐old male with developmental support needs. He is fully ambulatory, mostly nonverbal, and thrives in a structured, calm, and predictable environment.
This role is ideal for a caregiver who is attentive, safety‐focused, and comfortable providing frequent verbal prompting, redirection, and hands‐on assistance throughout daily routines.
Scheduled Hours (20 hours/week)
- Monday: 3:30 PM – 8:30 PM
- Tuesday: 3:30 PM – 8:30 PM
- Thursday: 3:30 PM – 8:30 PM
- Friday: 3:30 PM – 8:30 PM
Reliability is essential — caregivers must be able to commit to these weekly hours consistently; more hours may be available based on the guardian's needs.
Position Overview
The participant walks independently and requires continuous supervision due to limited awareness of danger and difficulty recognizing unsafe situations. He responds best to caregivers who maintain structure, communicate calmly, and take time to learn his unique communication style.

- Doing puzzles and completing simple applications
He completes some tasks independently but requires verbal prompting, supervision, and hands‐on support to ensure safety and success.
Home Environment
The home is clean, organized, and free of animals, providing a calm, structured environment that supports the participant’s comfort and routine.
Ideal Candidate

- Able to provide frequent prompting and redirection
- Calm and supportive during frustration or behavioral challenges
- Experience with intellectual/developmental disabilities strongly preferred
Position Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid ID and reliable transportation, with the ability to travel to client homes
- Successful completion of all pre‐employment screenings, including background check and drug screen
- Willingness to complete competency and skills assessments during onboarding
- Ability to work independently in assigned participants' home environment
- Commitment to meeting all onboarding, compliance, and training requirements
- A kind heart and positive attitude, demonstrating compassion, patience, and professionalism with vulnerable populations
Responsibilities
- Assist with bathing, personal hygiene, and dressing
- Assist with toileting and brief changes
- Prepare meals and snacks (participant cannot safely use the stove/oven)
- Maintain safety awareness and provide attentive supervision throughout the home
- Support simple household tasks (making the bed, dishes, cleaning, trash)
- Maintain routine and help prepare for transitions
- Offer frequent redirection and engagement
- Recognize and respond to nonverbal communication cues
- Provide calm, positive behavioral support
