Registered Nurse (RN) – Correctional Healthcare
Location: Hartsville, TN
Facility: Trousdale Turner Correctional Facility
Contract: 16 Weeks
Start Date: September 14, 2026
Schedule: Night Shift | 12-hour shifts | 3 days/week
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
Positions Available: 2
Pay Rate: $1900-$2000 per week
Job Overview
We are seeking experienced and compassionate Registered Nurses (RNs) to provide professional nursing care in a correctional healthcare setting. The RN will assess patients, administer medications, respond to emergencies, assist with examinations and treatments, and ensure high-quality patient care while maintaining strict confidentiality and facility policies.
This is a 16-week night-shift contract with a 36-hour weekly guarantee. Candidates should have open availability in accordance with the facility's scheduling policy.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients/residents in a correctional healthcare environment.
- Administer medications and treatments according to provider orders and established policies.
- Perform patient assessments and respond appropriately to illnesses, injuries, and medical emergencies.
- Assist providers during examinations, sick calls, treatments, and other medical procedures.
- Recognize changes in patient condition and coordinate referrals to emergency rooms or outside healthcare facilities when necessary.
- Provide guidance and supervision to LPN/LVN and non-licensed medical staff.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation while protecting patient confidentiality.
- Monitor patients with serious or potentially catastrophic illnesses.
- Assist with inpatient hospitalization monitoring and coordination of medical services.
- Follow applicable pharmacy laws, including requirements related to controlled substances.
- Provide health education and counseling to patients as needed.
- Observe and document patient behavior and maintain a safe, secure medical environment.
- Follow all applicable corporate, healthcare, correctional, and facility policies and procedures.
- Assist with safety reports, incident documentation, accreditation requirements, and other healthcare-related administrative duties.
Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program with a nursing degree or diploma.
- Valid driver's license.
- Strong patient assessment, medication administration, and emergency response skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a correctional healthcare environment.
- Preferred: At least 1 year of professional nursing experience.
