BE Staffing Solutions is seeking an experienced HVAC or facilities maintenance professional for a Building Engineer II opportunity supporting Alexandria City Public Schools.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced technician who's ready to take the next step into Building Engineering. If you have strong hands-on commercial or institutional maintenance experience and an HVAC certification, the client is willing to support training and pay for certain engineering certifications to help the right candidate grow into the position.
You do not need to already have every engineering certification to be considered.

What You'll Do
You'll help maintain, troubleshoot, and support building systems throughout school facilities, including:
- Commercial HVAC systems
- Air handlers and rooftop units
- VAV systems
- Pumps and motors
- Boilers and chillers
- Electrical and plumbing systems
- Building Automation Systems (BAS)
- Preventive and corrective maintenance
- Equipment and mechanical-room inspections
- Work orders and emergency maintenance
- Vendor and contractor coordination
You'll use the technical experience you already have while continuing to develop broader Building Engineer
skills.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone with several years of hands-on HVAC, facilities or commercial building-maintenance experience.
Strong candidates should have experience with several of the following:
- Commercial HVAC troubleshooting
- Preventive maintenance
- Mechanical/building systems
- Basic electrical troubleshooting
- Commercial plumbing
- Pumps, motors, air handlers, RTUs or VAVs
- Boilers and/or chillers
- BAS/HVAC controls
- Work-order or CMMS systems
- Diagnosing maintenance problems independently
Experience in schools, hospitals, universities, hotels, government facilities, commercial buildings or other large facilities is especially valuable.
Have HVAC Experience? Don't Count Yourself Out.
You do not need to already be a Building Engineer to qualify.
Candidates with an HVAC certification and strong hands-on commercial or institutional experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
For the right candidate, the client is willing to support training and pay for certain engineering certifications needed to continue developing in the role.
Existing certifications that are valuable include:
- EPA 608 / EPA Universal
- HVAC Certification
- CFC Certification
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
- Stationary/Operating Engineer credentials
- NIULPE
- BAS/Controls training
