About this job
Job Description
Superintendent - Semi-Custom Home Builder (Milwaukee, WI)
A growing Milwaukee-area homebuilder is looking for an experienced Superintendent to own field operations on semi-custom single-family homes from breaking ground through final walkthrough - joining a team that values quality craftsmanship, straight communication, and getting homes delivered on time.
What you'll do
- Drive daily site operations across semi-custom home projects from foundation through closeout, holding trades accountable to plans, specs, and schedules
- Build, maintain, and adjust project schedules to hit milestones; identify bottlenecks early and resolve them before they cost time or money
- Conduct regular quality-control and safety inspections; enforce OSHA and company safety policies and document findings in daily reports
- Coordinate permitting, municipal inspections, and third-party sign-offs to keep production moving without delays
- Lead pre-construction meetings and weekly job-site huddles with subcontractors, suppliers, and project managers; keep all stakeholders aligned
- Track field-level budget items - labor, materials, subcontractor performance - and flag variances with recommended corrections
- Serve as the primary on-site contact for homeowners: set clear expectations, communicate progress proactively, and resolve concerns with professionalism
What you need
- 5+ years of superintendent experience in residential construction (production or semi-custom homebuilding strongly preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple homes simultaneously through a full construction cycle, on schedule and on budget
- Solid working knowledge of residential construction methods, building systems, and Wisconsin/Milwaukee code requirements
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and comfort traveling between multiple Milwaukee-area job sites daily
Nice to have
- Proficiency with construction management software such as Buildertrend or Procore
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification (or equivalent safety credential)
- Degree or certificate in Construction Management, Carpentry, or a related field
- Prior experience managing subcontractor relationships with high-volume or production builders
