Job Description
LHH is seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager to oversee key accounting operations and support consolidated financial reporting for a family office environment. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys being actively involved in the work, can operate independently in a lean organization, and is comfortable rolling up their sleeves to solve problems and improve processes. The anticipated salary is between $130,000 and $145,000 a year.

Responsibilities:

· Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities for assigned entities and subsidiaries, including journal entries, accruals, allocations, and account reconciliations.

· Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and account roll-forwards, ensuring issues are identified and resolved promptly.

· Manage intercompany accounting, including loans, notes, expense allocations, shared-service fees, and settlements.

· Account for investments in related-party partnerships, including contributions, distributions, income and loss allocations, and K-1 reconciliation.

· Maintain entity organizational structures, ownership records, and allocation percentages used for consolidated reporting.

· Own significant accounting functions from start to finish, including revenue, accruals and reserves, prepaid and fixed assets, leases, intercompany transactions, and consolidation.

· Perform financial analysis and provide clear explanations of significant variances and trends.

· Oversee accounts payable and employee expense reimbursements, including vendor onboarding, W-9 collection, and 1099 reporting.

· Prepare annual tax workpaper packages and supporting schedules and reconcile K-1s to accounting records.

· Support quarterly estimated tax payments and year-end reporting.

· Provide backup support for treasury and payroll activities.

· Maintain and enhance internal controls, accounting procedures, segregation of duties, approval processes, and fraud-prevention measures.

· Support annual budgeting and periodic reforecasting processes, including maintaining schedules and consolidating information from business leaders.

· Prepare monthly budget-to-actual and forecast-to-actual reporting with meaningful variance analysis.

· Partner with the Operations team on expense management, accruals, and spending analysis.

· Prepare clear, concise financial schedules and analysis for non-financial stakeholders.

· Maintain a rolling cash flow forecast across entities to ensure adequate funding for capital calls, tax obligations, and operating expenses.

· Identify and implement process improvements that increase efficiency, reduce manual work, and shorten the financial close cycle.

· Evaluate opportunities to automate spreadsheet-based processes and implement AI-enabled workflows.

· Serve as a finance team resource for responsible AI adoption, including evaluating new capabilities, training colleagues, and supporting appropriate governance and data-security practices.

· Mentor and provide technical guidance to staff and senior accountants, review their work for accuracy, and support the development of the team's technical capabilities.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

· 7+ years of progressive accounting experience; family office experience preferred.

· CPA designation and public accounting/tax experience preferred.

· Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial statement preparation.

· Experience with partnership accounting, including capital accounts, allocations, distributions, and K-1s.

· Working knowledge of income tax concepts relevant to a family office, including book-to-tax differences, partnership and corporate tax reporting, estimated tax payments, W-9/W-8 requirements, and 1099 reporting.

· Experience designing, documenting, and testing internal controls.

· Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.

· Working knowledge of payroll laws, policies, procedures, and regulations.

· Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

· Experience with NetSuite, Concur, Adaptive, Salesforce, and Google Workspace preferred.

· Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through.

· Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

· Comfortable working independently in a lean team environment and proactively identifying and solving problems.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex accounting and compliance topics to non-financial colleagues.

· A practical, hands-on approach and willingness to take ownership of tasks from start to finish.

Benefits:

· Medical, dental and vision insurance with the majority of premiums covered by the employer, including coverage for eligible dependents.

· Childcare Support- Receive up to $12,500 per year in childcare benefits.

· Wellness Benefit- annual wellness benefit of up to $1,800.

· Transportation Support-Reimbursement for eligible transportation and parking expenses.
