Audit Supervisor - Public Accounting (CPA)
Join a well-established public accounting firm in Southern California where a $100,000-$130,000 salary, 100% employer-paid medical coverage, and a direct track to Audit Manager are waiting for an experienced audit professional ready to supervise engagements and guide team performance.
What you'll do
Supervise complex audit engagements from initial planning through final sign-off, managing job economics, client timelines, and team deliverables.
Review, evaluate, and approve staff and senior work papers, providing targeted technical feedback that maintains firm quality control standards.
Address complex US GAAP, GAAS, and financial reporting issues, drafting detailed technical memos and actionable internal control management letters.
Manage primary client relationships, collaborating directly with Controllers, CFOs, and board members to communicate findings and progress.
Monitor overall engagement profitability, WIP, and scope variations, making real-time resource adjustments alongside partners and managers.
Lead internal staff development, including technical training sessions, formal performance reviews, and mentorship of rising seniors and associates.
Actively participate in campus recruiting, onboarding, and practice management initiatives to support firm expansion.
What you need
4+ years of recent public accounting audit experience, with demonstrated supervisory capabilities.
Active CPA license (required).
Deep expertise in US GAAP, GAAS, and financial statement review standards across diverse industries.
Advanced proficiency with CCH Engagement (or comparable paperless audit software) and Excel financial modeling.
Proven track record of managing multiple concurrent engagement deadlines and supervising audit teams.
Ability to work 55+ hours per week during peak audit seasons (January-April and summer).
Nice to have
Prior leadership experience on ERISA employee benefit plan audits or Single Audits (Uniform Guidance).
Familiarity with CCH Knowledge Coach, CCH Axcess, TeamMate Analytics, or ProStaff.
Active involvement in proposal preparation, networking, or business development activities.
Pay & benefits
Base salary: $100,000-$130,000 depending on experience.
PTO: 160 hours (4 weeks) accrued from day one.
Medical: 100% employer-paid PPO for the employee (Delta Dental PPO and VSP Vision also 100% employer-paid).
Financial & Insurance: HSA/FSA pre-tax options; 401(k) with company match; 100% firm-paid Long-Term Disability; firm-paid Life/AD&D (1x salary up to $100,000).
