Registered Nurse (RN) – Telemetry / Cardio Thoracic

Location

Peoria, IL | Acute Care

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift | 12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM | Every other weekend required | Holiday rotation required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 70-bed Cardio Thoracic unit serving patients with diagnoses including MI, CHF, A-fib, COPD, pacemaker/AICD placement, lung surgeries with chest tubes, and esophagectomy
• Perform EKG interpretation and monitor telemetry using Philips monitoring systems; read and interpret rhythm strips independently
• Titrate drips including Cardizem and heparin per unit protocols
• Manage patients on CPAP, BiPAP (home regimen), and heated high-flow oxygen as applicable; troubleshoot respiratory therapy equipment
• Float to other general medical units as needed
• Adhere to all facility policies including drug-free campus requirements

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• BLS certification required
• Proficiency in EKG interpretation and cardiac rhythm strip reading
• Experience with medication titration and drip management
• Competency in all basic nursing skills applicable to an acute care telemetry setting
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for standard contract rates; candidates within 50 miles are subject to a local rate adjustment

Preferred Experience / Skills

• ACLS certification (recommended)
• Prior experience in a telemetry, cardiology, or cardio thoracic nursing setting
• Familiarity with chest tube management and post-surgical cardiac or thoracic patients
• Previous experience at a comparable facility or health system
