Registered Nurse (RN) – Telemetry / Cardio Thoracic

Location

Peoria, IL | Acute Care

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Days | 12-Hour Shifts (0700–1930) | Every Other Weekend Required | Holiday Rotation Required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 70-bed Cardio Thoracic unit managing diagnoses including MI, CHF, atrial fibrillation, COPD, pacemaker/AICD placement, lung surgeries with chest tubes, and esophagectomy
• Perform continuous EKG interpretation and collaborate with monitor technicians using Philips telemetry monitoring systems
• Titrate drips including Cardizem and heparin; manage medication titration per unit protocols
• Manage patients on CPAP, BiPAP (home regimen), and heated high-flow oxygen as indicated
• Float to other general medical units as needed
• Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4–5 on day shift, working alongside Patient Care Technicians and 24/7 charge and house supervisors

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• BLS certification required
• Proficiency in EKG interpretation and medication titration
• Ability to pass a drug screen; facility is a drug-free campus
• Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for standard contract rates

Preferred Experience / Skills

• ACLS certification (recommended)
• Prior experience in telemetry, cardiac, or cardio thoracic nursing
• Familiarity with chest tube management and post-surgical cardiac or thoracic patients
• Previous experience at a comparable acute care facility
