Travel RN – Cardiac Medical ICU (CVICU) – Nights

Schedule / Job TypeContract | 13 Weeks | Night Shift (1900–0730) | Expected 36 or 48 hours/week | Every other weekend required | No call requirements
Key Responsibilities- Utilize the nursing process to perform direct patient care activities for all age groups, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation across a 22-bed Cardiac Medical ICU at a 1:2 patient ratio
- Monitor and coordinate patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize patient outcomes and comfort for a complex patient population including sepsis, post cardiac arrest, respiratory failure, GI bleed, DKA, PE, renal failure, liver failure, pancreatitis, and overdose
- Operate and manage advanced equipment including Impella, IABP, Prismax CRRT, Zoll internal cooling device, and Arctic Sun
- Evaluate the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct caregivers and maintain professional accountability for patient care delivery
- Maintain patient rights and confidentiality of patient information in accordance with applicable nursing practice standards
- May be floated to other stepdown units depending on staffing needs
- Current RN license — must meet eligibility criteria for licensure in the state of Missouri or currently hold Missouri licensure
- BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association (AHA) only
- NIHSS certification required
- Minimum 3 years of inpatient Cardiac Medical ICU experience
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption required for assignments running November 1 through April 1; declinations are not accepted
- Must be available the entire first week for orientation (night shift orients on day shift)
- TNCC certification
- Experience with medical ICU patients with cardiac emphasis, including arrhythmias, STEMI, and post-cardiac arrest care
- Experience recovering open-heart surgery patients directly from the OR (CVI experience)
- Proficiency with EPIC EMR
