Rhino Medical is leading the charge seeking a board-certified or board-eligible gastroenterologist for a 12-month locum tenens assignment supporting a community hospital in Prestonsburg, Kentucky. This role involves performing general GI procedures including upper endoscopies, colonoscopies, and advanced ERCP interventions within a busy outpatient setting. Providers will manage a complex patient population often presenting with non-compliance and significant clinical needs, emphasizing strong relationship-building and communication skills.

Opportunity Highlights

• Location: Prestonsburg, Kentucky
• Assignment Type: Locum Tenens, 12 months
• Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
• Support Staff: APP support available
• EMR: Meditech
• Patient Population: Non-compliant, complex, often with family support

Clinical Scope

• Perform upper endoscopies (EGD) and colonoscopies
• Conduct ERCP procedures (moderate complexity)
• Biopsies of esophagus, stomach, small bowel, and colon
• Esophageal, duodenal, or luminal stent placement
• Argon plasma coagulation and esophageal dilation
• Foreign body removal via EGD
• Sigmoidoscopy and GI motility studies
• Non-variceal hemostasis (upper and lower)
• Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) placement

Requirements

• Active Kentucky medical license
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology
• Must be able to respond offsite within 30 minutes for emergencies and within 12 hours for routine calls
• Must have MD or DO degree and DEA registration
