The primary responsibility of the Shingle Roofer is to perform maintenance and installation of shingle roofs and roofing materials at various customer job sites. This individual is expected to be skilled in the duties which are routinely performed in the roofing trade.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Must have all personal tools and safety equipment at job site and in good working order.
- Adhere to all OSHA safety requirements.
- Set up and tear down ladders, jack boards, and scaffoldings and tarps.
- Set up hoses and brackets.
- Set up all roofing materials.
- Completely clean trucks at least once a week.
- Tear off roofing materials.
- Repair or replace decking as deemed and re-nail all roof sheathing as required by the roofing foreman.
- Install ice shields, felt, drip edge, shingles, vents, stink pipe, tins, valleys, and any other roofing materials per manufactures specifications.
- Four (4 OR 5) nails per shingle or as per manufacturer’s specifications and job requirements.
- Cut all bubble in the felt.
- All shingle cuts 1/4” to ½” away from skylights. Caulk skylights, face nails, stink pipes, any and all other flashing.
- Install all materials with the highest quality standards.
- Protect and not damage customer’s property.
- Return all tools used to their proper storage location.
- All members of a crew will participate in the complete cleanup of the job site.
- Responsible for pounding nails back on the toe boards, cleaning the guns, cleaning the hoses, and helping to reposition shingles around the building as necessary.
- Report any shoddy workmanship to the foreman and or company president immediately.
- Other duties as assigned.
Competencies / Requirements:
- At least one year of experience as a roofing laborer or equivalent required
- Active Listening - Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. Ability to understand and follow English directions.
- Speaking - Talking to others to convey information effectively.
- Reading Comprehension - Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
- Time Management - Managing one's own time and the time of others.
- Mathematics - Using mathematics to solve problems.
- Social Perceptiveness - Being aware of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do.
- Ability to climb ladders while carrying up to 75lbs. of tools and supplies.
- High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate
