Spread Bagelry, Philadelphia's own Montreal Style Wood Fired Bagelry, is hiring!

We’re looking for a reliable, early-morning Baker to join our team! Our Bakers are responsible for the craftsmanship behind every Spread bagel — building and managing our wood fire, monitoring the proofing process, and boiling and baking fresh bagels each morning. This hands-on role combines skill, consistency, and attention to detail to deliver the quality our guests expect every day.

Responsibilities:

• Build and manage the fire in our old-world, wood-fired oven each morning, using a combination of gas and wood fire
• Proof, boil, and wood-fire bake bagels according to company recipes and standards
• Maintain consistent quality, size, appearance, and bake across all bagels
• Prepare bagels using our two-day proofing process by traying bagels daily, monitoring bake-readiness, and rotating stock appropriately
• Operate ovens and baking equipment safely and efficiently
• Follow all food safety, hospitality, sanitation, and cleanliness standards
• Clean and maintain workstations, tools, and equipment
• Communicate production needs or issues with Management
• Work collaboratively with FOH and BOH teams as needed; assisting with prep and other tasks

Qualifications

• Prior baking, culinary, or food production experience required
• Ability to work early morning hours (3-4AM start time)
• Comfortable working on your feet for extended time periods, with a wood fire oven
• Strong attention to detail and consistency; familiarity with dough proofing is a plus
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high volume environment

Required qualifications:

• Legally authorized to work in the United States
• 18 years or older
