Location: Syracuse, NY 13210
Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
Schedule: Every other weekend required; some holidays may also be required
Duration: 14 weeks, with possibility of extension
Local Pay Rate: $49–$55/hour, based on experience
Travel Compensation: $2,200–$2,600/week, based on experience
We are seeking an experienced EEG Technician to support inpatient and outpatient neurological diagnostic services. The ideal candidate will have strong technical EEG skills, excellent patient communication abilities, and experience working with patients across a broad age range.
Experience in an Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) is preferred.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine EEG studies in accordance with established ASET guidelines.
- Conduct EEG procedures on patients ranging from neonatal through geriatric populations in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Measure, prepare, and accurately apply electrodes for adult and pediatric patients.
- Acquire high-quality EEG recordings and enter required raw data for physician interpretation.
- Review and provide descriptive analysis of EEG waveforms and observed patterns.
- Edit and process 24-hour EEG monitoring data.
- Prepare completed studies for physician review and interpretation.
- Maintain appropriate and professional interaction with patients and their families.
- Explain procedures and provide reassurance to patients as needed.
- Maintain EEG equipment and ensure acquisition stations are properly stocked and operational.
- Identify and report equipment malfunctions and document issues in the appropriate equipment log.
- Follow departmental policies, procedures, safety standards, and established clinical protocols.
- Maintain accurate documentation related to EEG procedures and equipment.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, technologists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
- Registered EEG Technician (R. EEG T.) certification.
- Minimum 1 year of EEG experience.
- Current BLS/CPR certification.
- Experience performing EEG procedures across multiple patient populations.
- Strong computer and technical skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in both inpatient and outpatient environments.
- Must successfully complete required pre-employment health clearance.
- Previous Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) experience.
- Experience with both adult and pediatric EEG procedures.
- Familiarity with extended/24-hour EEG monitoring and data editing.
- Knowledge of current EEG acquisition and documentation practices.
