Position Overview
When someone applies for life or disability insurance, the insurance company may require a medical exam. These exams are completed by independent contractors, not insurance company employees. APPS works with insurance companies to schedule and complete these exams accurately and on time.

Responsibilities include:
- Conducting brief health screenings and reviewing medical history.
- Recording information about medical conditions, surgeries, medications, healthcare providers, and provider contact information.
- Measuring height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, and waist-to-hip ratio.
- Collecting blood, urine, and occasionally saliva samples.
- Performing blood draws using a two-tube vacutainer system (strong phlebotomy skills are required).
- Performing EKGs with portable equipment when needed (training provided).
- Preparing specimens for shipment and completing all required paperwork accurately.
- Completing exams that typically take 15 to 45 minutes, depending on insurance company requirements.
Qualifications:
Candidates should have:
- Ability to pass a background check.
- A valid driver's license, reliable transportation, proof of auto insurance, and a mobile phone.
- A professional appearance and positive attitude.
- Strong phlebotomy and venipuncture skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and basic human anatomy.
- Basic computer skills, including using printers and scanners.
- Good organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
- Ability to accurately collect and document medical history.
- Understanding of HIPAA and the ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication skills when working with branch staff, clients, and insurance agents.
- EKG experience is preferred but not required. Training is available.
Schedule:
This is an independent contractor position that offers the flexibility to set and manage your own schedule.
Compensation:
- Pay is based on your availability and the number of completed exams.
- Payments and reimbursements are made every two weeks through direct deposit.
