Licensed Barber

The Licensed Barber is an independent contractor who provides safe, sanitary, respectful, and age-appropriate barbering services to youth housed at the New River Valley Juvenile Detention Home (NRVJDH).

Services are performed in accordance with Virginia licensure requirements, professional sanitation standards, the executed contract, facility security procedures, PREA requirements, and NRVJDH policies. The contractor maintains strict control of all tools and supplies and works within the access, supervision, and security conditions established by facility staff.

The barber will typically cut 10 kids at a per diem of $20 per youth.

The contract will be for monthly scheduled service and will include a minimum pay of $200.

We are a 24 bed secure detention facility operated under the authority granted by the New River Valley Juvenile Detention Commission consisting of the owner jurisdictions of the city of Radford and the counties of Giles, Montgomery and Pulaski. The owner jurisdictions pool financial resources to provide for the delivery of juvenile detention services to meet the philosophy and mission of the Commission.
