A growing engineering firm is seeking a Structural Engineer with 4+ years of experience to join its team in Herndon, VA. What You'll Do

• Design and analyze structural systems utilizing steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, wood, and cold-formed steel.
• Develop structural calculations, construction documents, and detailed engineering drawings.
• Prepare and review technical specifications and structural design documentation.
• Collaborate with architects, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineers to coordinate building designs.
• Apply applicable building codes, engineering standards, and design criteria to ensure safe and efficient structural solutions.
• Participate in project coordination meetings and contribute to design development.
• Conduct occasional site visits to observe construction progress and address field-related structural issues.
• Assist with construction administration and resolve design questions as needed.
• Expand your technical expertise in cold-formed steel framing design with opportunities for continued professional development.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis or a related engineering discipline.
• 4+ years of structural engineering design experience, preferably in a building design or consulting environment.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD; Revit experience preferred.
• Experience designing structural systems using steel, concrete, masonry, and wood.
• Strong understanding of structural engineering principles, building codes, and design standards.
• Excellent technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary project teams and manage multiple assignments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience with cold-formed steel framing design.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress toward licensure.
• Familiarity with structural construction documents, specifications, and construction administration.
