Commercial Electrical Estimator

We are looking for an experienced Commercial Electrical Estimator with 5–10 years of experience estimating retail and commercial tenant improvement projects.

This is more than a production estimating position. We are looking for someone who can help us build and improve our estimating operation from the ground up.

The right candidate will not only be comfortable taking plans, specifications, and project requirements and developing accurate electrical estimates—they will also have the ability to evaluate our current estimating process, recommend and implement the right estimating software, build out our assembly and cost-item library, and create standardized procedures that make our estimating department more efficient and scalable.

If you have previously built, organized, migrated, or implemented an estimating database, that experience will put you at the top of our list.

What You'll Do

• Prepare detailed electrical estimates for retail, commercial, and tenant improvement projects.
• Perform quantity takeoffs from plans, specifications, and other construction documents.
• Develop accurate material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor pricing.
• Review drawings and specifications to identify scope, exclusions, conflicts, and potential estimating risks.
• Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing as needed.
• Work with project management and operations to ensure estimates are complete and buildable.
• Help evaluate and recommend commercial electrical estimating software.
• Lead or assist with implementation and migration of estimating software and databases.
• Build and maintain a standardized assembly, cost-item, labor, and material library.
• Develop estimating standards, templates, workflows, and procedures.
• Document the estimating process so it can be consistently followed by the team.
• Identify opportunities to improve estimating accuracy, speed, consistency, and profitability.
• Help establish a scalable estimating system that can grow with the company.

What We're Looking For

• 5–10 years of commercial electrical estimating experience.
• Strong experience with retail and commercial tenant improvement projects.
• Ability to independently read and interpret electrical plans, specifications, and construction documents.
• Strong understanding of electrical materials, labor requirements, installation methods, and construction sequencing.
• Experience performing detailed electrical takeoffs and developing complete project estimates.
• Strong attention to detail and a disciplined approach to estimating.
• Comfortable working with estimating software, spreadsheets, databases, and digital construction documents.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with operations and management.

Major Plus: Estimating System Experience

We are especially interested in candidates who have:

• Built an estimating database or cost-item library.
• Created or standardized assemblies.
• Migrated an estimating database from one software platform to another.
• Helped select and implement estimating software.
• Developed estimating procedures, templates, or SOPs.
• Built an estimating department or improved an existing estimating system.
• Experience with software such as Accubid, McCormick, ConEst, Trimble, LiveCount, Bluebeam, or similar platforms.

You don't need to have experience with every program listed above. What matters most is that you understand estimating systems and can help us build one that works.

This position is based in the DFW Metroplex.

Candidates must either:

• Already live locally in the DFW area, or
• Be committed to relocating to DFW at their own expense.
