Maintenance Technician

Location: Newport News, VA

Position Summary:

Our Client is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to support the maintenance, reliability, and performance of industrial/manufacturing equipment. This role will perform preventive and predictive maintenance, troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and automation systems, and support equipment reliability and downtime reduction.


Key Responsibilities :

  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on production equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Maintain motors, drives, VFDs, sensors, controls, conveyors, pumps, bearings, gearboxes, and valves.
  • Troubleshoot PLC, HMI, I/O, and automation systems.
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and support equipment reliability improvements.
  • Track maintenance activities, work orders, and equipment history using CMMS/maintenance management systems.
  • Support OEE and maintenance performance tracking.
  • Manage critical spare parts and maintenance inventory.
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors.
  • Support equipment installation, startup, and commissioning.
  • Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, manuals, and technical documentation.
  • Follow LOTO and machine safety procedures.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.


Required Technical Experience :

  • Industrial/manufacturing maintenance experience.
  • Hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar PLC platforms.
  • Experience using PLC programming/software such as Studio 5000, RSLogix, TIA Portal, or similar platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with PLCs, HMIs, drives, sensors, and I/O.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Experience developing, implementing, or managing a preventive maintenance program.
  • Experience with CMMS or maintenance management systems.
  • Knowledge of equipment reliability, RCA, and downtime reduction.


Education & Qualifications :

  • Degree, technical certification, or trade training in Electrical, Electronics, Automation, Controls, Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field preferred.
  • GMP or regulated manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and email.
